On January 18th, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued a warning regarding counterfeit
Alli products that may be harmful to your health.
Preliminary testing by GlaxoSmithKline (GSK), the makers of
Alli, suggests that the counterfeit
Alli products do not contain the active ingredient
orlistat that is found in authentic
Alli products. Instead, these counterfeit products may actually contain sibutramine. Sibutramine is a controlled substance that is only used in certain patient populations. It can interact with other medications and cause health problems.
